Questions people ask

How is Malta net salary calculated?

Annual gross salary is assessed using the 2026 single, married or parent tax table, then standard employee Class 1 social security contributions are deducted. The regular monthly estimate excludes mandatory bonuses and weekly allowances.

What is the 2026 minimum wage in Malta?

The national minimum wage for a full-time employee is €229.44 per week. Sectoral Wage Regulation Orders can set different minimum rates, and the minimum-wage package includes additional statutory entitlements.

Can I select married or parent tax rates?

Yes. The calculator supports standard single, married and parent rates. It does not model the newer child-count-specific married/parent tables or eligibility tests, so check the MTCA guidance before relying on those rates.

Are social security contributions always 10%?

For the standard Class 1 category used here, contributions are 10% of the weekly basic wage above the lower threshold, capped at €55.93 per week for employees born from 1 January 1962. The low-wage category uses a fixed weekly amount.

Is this an official payslip calculation?

No. It is an estimate. Your exact result may differ because of the contribution category, tax status, credits, bonuses, allowances, and personal circumstances.
